　　call所表示的拜訪通常不是朋友之間的訪問，而是出于公務上或別的什么事情的需要而作的暫短訪問，而且完成了任務或達到了目的之后便離去；call at 的賓語通常為house，office等之類的名詞，或不用at，不跟賓語。 call on  的賓語通常為表示人的名詞或代詞。call in  表示順路到某處或某家。

　　situation 指“多種具體情況造 成的綜合狀態”， 常著重“這種狀態的影響或和處于該狀態的事物的關系”， 如：

　　We are in difficult situation.

　　我們處于困境。

　　clean  cleanse

　　都含“使干凈” 的意思。

　　clean 系常用詞， 指“用各種方式將污垢、臟物等清除掉”， 如：clean the window 擦窗子。

　　cleanse指“使純凈”、“清洗”， 尤指“用清除劑或其他方法使清潔”， 也用于比喻中， 如：cleanse the air in cities 將城市中的空氣凈化。

　　clean out

　　To rid of dirt， rubbish， or impurities.

　　掃除，清除去除塵土、垃圾或雜質

　　To empty of contents or occupants.

　　使…空出去除內容物或居住者

　　To drive or force out：

　　驅趕或強迫離開：

　　cleaned out the incompetent workers.

　　將不稱職的工人掃地出門

　　To deprive completely of money or material wealth：

　　洗劫剝奪全部的錢財或物質財富：

　　The robbery cleaned us out.

　　強盜把我們洗劫一空

　　clean up

　　To make clean or orderly.

　　清理使清潔或有秩序

　　To make oneself clean， neat， or presentable.

　　整理儀容使自己清潔、整齊或體面

　　To dispose of； settle：

　　處理；安置：

　　cleaned up the unpaid bills.

　　付清未付的賬單

　　To make a large profit， often in a short period of time：
