【考點4】pick的用法

▲辨析：choose;select;pick
這組動詞都有“挑選”的意思。
choose 強調在“選擇”某物時的意愿，特別是當供挑選
物只有兩個時，我們應當用choose。例如：
He has deliberately chosen to lead the life he leads and
is fully aware of the consequences. 他故意地選擇了他
所過的生活.并且深知其后果。
有好幾個東西供選擇時，最好用select。因為有較多的
被挑選物或挑選人就必須加以鑒別。例如：
They will hardly know which facts to select from the
great mass of evidence that steadily accumulates. 大量
的史料不斷聚積.他們難以判斷從中選擇哪些史實。
But, of the vertebrates, unpredictable Nature selected
only snakes (and one lizard).
但是，在脊椎動物中，神秘莫測的大自然只選擇了蛇
(和一種蜥蜴)。
pick 在用作“挑選”時，不強凋鑒別，也不強調意愿。例
如：
On the village green，where you pick up sides and no
feeling of local patriotism is involved, it is possible to
play simply for the fun and exercise. 在一塊鄉村草坪
上.你為雙方挑選隊員.并不涉及地方感情問題，只有
這樣才可能單純為娛樂和鍛煉而賽球。

[考查目標] 本題考查pick up的意思。
[答案與解析] C pick up的常見意思是“撿起，拿起”。
