voracious ADJ. /貪婪的；狼吞虎咽的/ravenous. The wolf is a voracious animal, its hunger never satisfied.
SAM: vor=吃 ous 表示多,吃了很多就是貪婪的。
warrant V. /授權；證明；批準/justify; authorize. Before the judge issues the injunction, you must convince her this action is warranted.
SAM：打仗war 需要螞蟻ant來授權，擔保，批準。下面是名詞。
warranty N. /擔保；保證/guarantee; assurance by seller. The purchaser of this automobile is protected by the manufacturer's warranty that the company will replace any defective part for five years or 50,000 miles.
wary ADJ. /機警的；小心的/very cautious. The spies grew wary as they approached the sentry.
SAM：打仗war需要特別的機警的，小心的。
wastrel N. /廢物；飯桶；放蕩的人/profligate. His neighbors denounced him as a wastrelwho had dissipated his inheritance.
SAM：這個詞來自于waster,然后你就覺得簡單了啊呵呵:-)。
watershed N. /分水嶺/crucial dividing point. The invention of the personal computer proved a historic watershed, for it opened the way to today's Information Age.
wax V. /增長/increase; grow. With proper handling, his fortunes waxed and he became rich.
SAM：mars---war, 所以 這個單詞也是由max表示大造成的---wax wa也可以拼音成蛙，青蛙增長了。
waylay V. /埋伏；伏擊；搶劫/ambush; lie in wait. They agreed to waylay their victim as he passed through the dark alley going home.
SAM：lay躺在路上way是埋伏，搶劫.
wean V. /斷奶；丟棄/accustom a baby to not nurse; give up a cherished activity. He decided he would wean himself away from eating junk food and stick to fruits and vegetables.
SAM:我們都有一個斷奶的時期= we + an 。
weather V. /侵蝕；風化/endure the effects of weather or other forces. He weathered the changes in his personal life with difficulty, as he had no one in whom to confide.
wince V. /退縮/shrink back; flinch. The screech of the chalk on the blackboard made her wince.
SAM：贏得了win勝利，敵人的車ce就退縮了.
balmy ADJ. /柔和的；芳香的/mild; fragrant. A balmy breeze refreshed us after the sultry blast.
SAM:ba爸爸給了我1個柔和的，芳香的球。=ba+l+my
banal ADJ. /平凡，陳腐，老生常談/hackneyed; commonplace; trite; lacking originality. The hack writer's worn-out clich6s made his comic sketch seem banal. He even resorted to the banality of having someone slip on a banana peel!
SAM:=ba + na + l 爸爸和娜娜都談了一個老生常談的問題。
ruffian N. /流氓；惡棍；痞子/bully; scoundrel. The ruffians threw stones at the police.
SAM：=rude + ff + ian 粗魯的狒狒ff是一個an 流氓，惡棍。
ruminate V. /反復咀嚼；消化；深思；反芻/chew over and over (mentally, or, like cows, physically); mull over; ponder. Unable to digest quickly the baffling events of the day, Reuben ruminated about them till four in the morning.
SAM：= run + in + ate rum= run 跑到里面去反復吃ate,就是反復咀嚼，深思。
rummage V. /到處翻尋/ransack; thoroughly search. When we rummaged through the trunks in the attic, we found many souvenirs of our childhood days. also N.
SAM： = run + mm + age 跑run過去到處翻尋妹妹MM.
ruse N. /技巧；策略，計謀/trick; stratagem. You will not be able to fool your friends with such an obvious ruse.
SAM:拒絕refuse別人要講究技巧，策略. refuse --- ruse
sedition N. /抵抗當局；反抗；暴動/resistance to authority; insubordination. His words, though not treasonous in themselves, were calculated to arouse thoughts of sedition.
SAM: sed=sit 靜坐也是抵抗當局，反抗。
sedulous ADJ. /勤奮的；勤勤懇懇的/diligent; hardworking. After weeks of patient and sedulous labor, we completed our detailed analysis of every published SAT examination.
SAM： sed=sit ous = 多，過多坐在那里的同學是勤奮的，勤勤懇懇的。
