　　eg:He is a good student and he really catches on fast.
　　他的確是個好學生，對知識吸收領會得非常快.
　　catch one’s breath 屏息/透不過氣來
　　catch out 發(fā)覺...有錯誤(或做壞事)
　　catch up with 趕上;對...產(chǎn)生惡果
　　catch up with是指從后面趕上來;keep up with 是指保持在同一個水平上，不落伍.
　　eg: I had to work hard to catch up the others, after missing a term.
　　休學一學期后，我必須努力用功，以趕上其他同學.
　　He walked so fast so that she couldn’t keep up with him.
　　他走得很快，使得她無法跟上.
　　*其中overtake 也有趕上之意.
　　catch one’s eye 引起某人注意
　　eg:The mistakes in this book caught John’s eye.
　　書中的錯誤引起了約翰的注意.

　　eg: when he catches sight of her, the sweet memory comes into his mind again.

　　 eg: His carelessness brought about the accident.
　　 他的粗心導致了這次意外事故的發(fā)生。
　　 bring down 1) 打到，挫傷 2) 降低
　　 eg: It is a good opportunity for us to bring down our opponents
　　 這是我們打到對手的好機會。
　　 eg: The price of transistor radios has been brought down considerably in recent years.
　　 近年來，晶體管收音機的價格大幅下降。

　　 音樂使他入迷
　　 carry forward 推進

　　 她獲得了頭獎
　　 eg: The plague has carried off many children.
　　 這場瘟疫奪走了許多孩子的生命
　　 carry on 1)繼續(xù)下去，堅持下去 2)從事，經(jīng)營
　　 eg: Without telephone it would be impossible to carry on functions of every business operation in the whole country.
