Direction: In this section, you will read 5 short incomplete dialogues between two speakers, each followed by 4 choices marked A, B, C, and D. Choose the answer that best suits the situation to complete the dialogue by marking the corresponding letter with a single bar across the square brackets on your machine-scoring ANSWER SHEET.
1. — Operator, I’d like to place a station –to-station call to Beijing, please. 
  — ________.
A. Ok. Where are you?  B. Just a moment, please.
C. All right. How are you? D. Sorry, you have to pay.

2. — Can you help me? I’d like to know how to work this air conditioner.
  — ________.
   A. Not at all. This room is really hot.
   B. You’re welcome. I’m glad to help you.
   C. Yes, certainly. First, you have to plug it in.
D. God helps those who help themselves.
 
3. — I'm afraid we’ll have to postpone our visit to the Great Wall. It looks like rain.

9.  — Many accidents are preventable; if people were more careful, these accidents would not happen.

A. Are you sure? B. You said it!
C. Are you serious? D. That’s ridiculous!

10. — I'm going to take the math test tomorrow morning.

A. That’s right.  B. Be brave.

11. — Excuse me. Can you tell me where is the bus stop going to the Peace Hotel?

A. The Peace Hotel is quite far from here.  B. I don’t know where the Peace Hotel is.
