今天單講詞頭：CO。（注意：不是一氧化碳）
不妨參看各類大綱小綱，詞匯的紅寶書綠寶書，都可見以之為頭者一片汪洋。故有此大張旗鼓焉。
但老鞋的搞法還是一樣的：不要死記，力圖搞懂。
慢慢來吧。
話說此頭，還有幾個變體，邪眼望去，赫然是后面跟上l,m,n這三個連續(xù)的字母，形成col, com, con。
再說此頭，品性不錯，符合我黨的根本要求：團結一致——團結而又一致。
團結呢，還可再縮為一個“合”字。老鞋覺得最有意思的是contract這個詞。
Marriage is an contract, by nature, though we are not ready to accept it emotionally. 婚姻是個合約——從本質上來說，雖然我們從感情上無法接受這一點。
Metals expand when heated and contract when cooled. 各種金屬遇熱膨脹，受涼收縮。
同一個contract, 一會兒“合同”，一會兒“收縮”，莫名其妙？其妙在con-(合）。
合同是合，自無疑義；收縮，不就是縮到一起嗎？
比如說中國人熟悉的“會”吧，講的是個團結，拿得出手的幾個詞，都是這個頭：
There will be a press conference(記者招待會）after the national congress(全國人代會）and the Party convention(黨代會）.
在人代會及黨代會后，總會有個記者招待會。
當然，說“團結”，是粉飾乾坤。CO強調的是“一起”，外表的團結之下你爭我斗，也是有的。
When competition goes to extreme, we combat each other, giving rise to conflicts.
當競爭走向極端，我們彼此斗爭，就產生了沖突。（compete, combat, conflict這“競爭/斗爭/沖突”三劍客，都不是一個巴掌可以拍得響的）
傳說中的概念“組成”，即把零件放在“一起”，組成整件，也有三劍客compose/consist/comprise。

The USA comprises 50 states./50 states comprise the USA.
(注意不要機械地說每個詞都是“組成”的意思：consist of是“由……構成”，相當于be composed of; 而comprise兩面三刀，既可以是“組成”，也可以“由……組成”）
若表動作（action, activity)，常是團結“一起”，而說性質(nature, quality)，則是“一致”，大概是物以類聚的原理吧，“同事”一詞，最見其中關聯(lián)（relation, association, connection)。
Your co-workers, or your colleagues, are those who you work with.
你的工友，也就是你的同事，即你與之共事之輩。

邪說：這個憑空不容易想出。是“具體的”，抽象的東西紛紛揚揚，混聚到一起才“具體”。

邪說：這個想不出跟“一起/一致”有何關系吧？本來就沒關系——特例！恕罪恕罪！firm是個形容詞，hold a firm stand, 是有一個確定的立場。形容詞之前來個co, 乃使之動化，confirm your position是確認你的職位。

邪說：說過的，是“沖突”。順便記住-flict-了出現，絕非好事。

邪說：只作一個提示，China Construction Bank。建設也者，把零件堆在一起，構成整件。

邪說：這個平空想不出的。It is said that sult=sit, 那字面上就是“坐在一起”，討教。

邪說：已講，合同。
