在下列情況下，承運人對貨物的滅失，損害和延遲交付免除責任：
1. Any wrongful act or neglect of the consignor. 由于發(fā)貨人的錯誤行為或者過失造成的貨物的滅失，損害和延遲交付，承運人不承擔責任。
注釋：wrongful: 不正當的，錯誤的 neglect: 疏忽，忽視，過失 consignor: 發(fā)貨人，委托人
2.Inherent vice of the goods; 貨物的固有缺陷
注釋：inherent vice: 固有缺陷，內在缺陷 (inherent:固有的，內在的 vice: 缺點，缺陷)
3.Circumstances which he could not avoid and the consequence of which he was unable to prevent. 承運人無法避免的情況以及無法預防的結果。
注釋：circumstance: 情況，形勢 avoid: 避免 consequence: 后果，結果 be unable to: 不能，沒有能力... prevent: 防止，預防
但是承運人在此情況下不能免責：
The carrier shall not be relieved of liability of reason of the defective condition of the vehicle used by him in order to perform the carriage, or by reason of the wrongful act or neglect of the person from whom he may have hired the vehicle or of the agents or servants of the latter.
對于由于為履行運輸而使用之車輛的不良狀態(tài)或由于承運人已租用其車輛的人的或他的代理人或他的受雇人的錯誤行為或過失，承運人不應免責。
