　　提起王府學(xué)校的Jonah老師，校園里沒人不知道，一副西方面孔，卻是十足十的“中國通”。這位畢業(yè)于哈佛大學(xué)的“學(xué)霸”，不但中文十級“聽說讀寫”不在話下，課堂上也總是別出心裁。

　　Just mention BRS teacher Jonah, and there are few on campus who don’t know him: a western face, but, indeed, a complete "China hand". He graduated from Harvard University, and Jonah also obtained an amazing proficiency in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing. His classes are very creative and always different from what you’re expecting…in a good way!

　　2018年，Jonah老師正式加入王府學(xué)校，他在擔(dān)任高中英文閱讀與寫作課程老師的同時(shí)，還負(fù)責(zé)教師發(fā)展培訓(xùn)工作。他的熱情感染著身邊每一位同事，作為王府學(xué)校眾多外教的一員，他的是怎樣度過的呢？

　　Jonah joined the BRS community in 2018 and teaches high school English reading and writing, as well as working as a trainer of the school’s professional development program for teachers. His passion for work influences every colleague around him. As just one member of the many foreign teachers working at BRS, Jonah accepted our invitation to photo shoot one day in his life as a BRS teacher.

　　A Day in the life of a BRS Teacher starts with clocking in at the campus gate in the morning.

　　Jonah can use Chinese fluently to discuss teaching matters with his Chinese colleague.

　　在高一年級的英文閱讀與寫作的課堂上，Jonah老師啟發(fā)同學(xué)們?nèi)チ私馐澜缟现匾�的發(fā)明，并讓大家圍繞“發(fā)明與創(chuàng)新”這項(xiàng)議題展開小組討論，探究這些世界發(fā)明隨著時(shí)間推移，會(huì)擁有怎樣的創(chuàng)新與改變。

　　In one of his English reading and writing classes for Grade 10 students, Jonah inspired students to learn about the world's most important inventions. They held a group discussion about the topic of "invention and innovation", exploring how these world inventions will innovate our world.

　　Jonah老師作為任課教師的同時(shí)，還擔(dān)任教師培訓(xùn)的工作。王府學(xué)校每個(gè)月都有大型教師培訓(xùn)，每次主題不同。這是一次以“折紙鶴”為主題的教師培訓(xùn)，目的是培養(yǎng)老師的默契。教學(xué)和折紙鶴一樣，在分組折紙鶴時(shí)，有的老師折得快、有的不會(huì)疊、還有的返工重做，Jonah想借此傳達(dá)在教學(xué)實(shí)踐中，一個(gè)人的力量是有限的，揚(yáng)長避短、形成互助，才能實(shí)現(xiàn)提升教學(xué)質(zhì)量的目標(biāo)。

　　In addition to teaching students, Jonah also is a trainer for the school’s professional development program for teachers. BRS hosts monthly, schoolwide teacher training sessions, and the themes vary from month to month. The theme for this session was "origami crane", aimed at fostering the spirit of teamwork between teachers. Jonah believes that teamwork is essential at an international school like BRS, where teachers must be able to work effectively with colleagues at different levels towards a commongoal.

　　這是Jonah老師與我校學(xué)術(shù)委員會(huì)進(jìn)行的“學(xué)生導(dǎo)師項(xiàng)目”的研究。項(xiàng)目內(nèi)容是由高二學(xué)生為高一學(xué)生做輔導(dǎo)，幫助低年級同學(xué)，探討有效的學(xué)習(xí)方法。在活動(dòng)現(xiàn)場，同學(xué)們以僅有的吸管、膠帶兩樣道具，在20分鐘內(nèi)完成搭“高塔”挑戰(zhàn)。這不僅普及了關(guān)于空間結(jié)構(gòu)的知識點(diǎn)，又鍛煉了高低年級學(xué)生各取所長、互相幫助的協(xié)作力。

　　Jonah is one of the guides for the “Student Mentor Program”, initiated by the BRS Academic Committee, and Grade 11 students work as mentors to Grade 10 students, helping them to solve problems and to explore effective learning methods together. In one of the activities, students challenge themselves to build a “tall tower” within 20 minutes using only two tools: straws and adhesive tape. This challenge not only reinforces the knowledge of building a physical structure but also reinforces what we know about building the spirit of teamwork regardless of the grade level.

　　 Jonah老師的用心不僅在課堂上，生活中也時(shí)刻關(guān)心大家的學(xué)習(xí)進(jìn)展，在升學(xué)申請的過程中，還會(huì)幫助大家寫推薦信，并耐心解答同學(xué)們的問題和困擾

　　Discussing problems with students during class break, they solve problems together. So, during the university application season, Jonah also helps students write recommendation letters and answers their questions or concerns.

　　Jonah’s daughter Amelia attends BRSLS primary school. Just like Jonah, many other families from the BRS community can pick up their children after work and go home together.

　　王府教師的，充實(shí)并快樂。他們在平凡的工作崗位，貢獻(xiàn)著不平凡的成就，你看那臉龐溫暖的微笑，正是照亮學(xué)子夢想的明燈。這是每一位王府人365個(gè)日夜辛勤的縮影。

　　We believe a day in the life of Jonah, full of a sense of fulfillment and happiness, is very much like a day in the life of every committed and dedicated BRS teacher. They do an ordinary job, but create opportunities for extraordinary achievements. You see, our teachers’ kind faces and warm smiles are just like guiding lights, illuminating our students’ pathways towards their dreams and their futures.
