    「語言點精講」

    1. Alexandra， let me introduce you. This is my wife Marilyn. 當我
們介紹兩個第一次見面的人互相認識時，可以用"Let me introduce you. This
is……" （讓我為你介紹一下。這位是某某某。）你也可以用"I'd like you to
meet……" 被介紹的人可以說"How do you do？" 也可以說"It's nice to meet
you." 或者"Nice to meet you." 后面的兩種說法不如"How do you do？" 正式。

    2. I'm so glad you found the bag and took the time and trouble to
return it.我很高興你撿到了包，而且不惜花時間和麻煩把它送還給我。

    I am so glad（that）……表示“我真高興……”。

    3. Would you like something to eat？ / Would you like to call home？

    "Would you like sth.？" 或者"Would you like to do sth.？" 用來禮貌
地詢問對方的意愿，是否“想要……”，或委婉地提出請求、建議、陳述個人的
想法。

    Call home 指給家里打電話。

    4. Thank you， no. I'm late for dinner at my house. I really have
to go.美國人通常會在拒絕別人的好意的同時給出自己不能接受的理由。在本情
境中，面對Ellen 的邀請 "Would you like something to eat ？" （你想吃點
什么嗎？），Alexandra 首先禮貌的表示拒絕 "Thank you ， no." ，隨后給出
了自己的理由 "I'm late for dinner at my house. I really have to go."
（我回家吃晚飯要遲到了。我真的得馬上走了。）

    5. Excuse me. 本文中出現的"Excuse me" 相當于“對不起，失賠了”的意
思，是在要離開片刻時使用的禮貌用語。
