1. domestic a. 本國的，國內的；家用的；家庭的

    2. constant a. 不變的，恒定的  n. 常數

    In our world nothing seems constant.

    The speed of light is an important constant.

    光速是一個重要的常數。

    3. cliff n. 懸崖，峭壁

    The sea had undermined the cliff.

    海水侵蝕了懸崖的基部。

    4. authority n. 權威；當局

    We see him as an authority on the subject.

    我們把他看作為這方面的權威。

    The new building must be financed by the local authority.

    新大樓的建筑資金必須由地方當局提供。

    5.audio a. 聽覺

    Students is very interested in the audio-visual instruction.

    6. attitude n. 態度

    attitude后常接towards/to，指“對于……的態度，看法”，如her attitude towards/to the question（她對這個問題的看法）。

    值得注意的是，因上面例子中的賓語是question，有時候可以用on代替to，如her attitude on the question.

    10. distinguish vt. 區分，辨別

    詞義辨析：distinguish， discern， discriminate

    distinguish： 普通用詞，指辨別者的能力或實際觀察到的區別，強調辨別所需的技巧。

    discern： 語義較籠統，著重精深與準確的觀察力，不一定有能力辨別關系密切的各項事物。

    discriminate： 語氣強，指從十分相似的事物中辨出差異，尤其把好壞區分開來。
